Can YOU
Name This Marvel Villain??
Randau, the Space Parasite, isn't exactly common knowledge among the incredible Hulk's list of enemies. Nor is the Hulk likely to remember him, since they met just shortly after his own solo title launched.
Randau once ruled the planet Xeron (no, I'm not kidding, the planet Xeron), when an alien invasion forced him to be made into a living weapon who could absorb another being's strength and life force. Annihilating his planet's enemies, he found that his thirst for more power was stronger than his desire to remain with his people, and he took off into space--eventually coming across Earth, and the Hulk, whose power attracted his hunger greatly:
However, the Hulk proved to be out of the Parasite's league, and he suffered defeat. Returning to his ship, though, played into the hands of others of his race, who decided to booby-trap the ship and end Raudau's blight upon their people forever.
This being Marvel, though, Randau found new life--this time in the Annihilation: Heralds of Galactus series, where he settled on a new planet and installed himself as ruler, enslaving other beings in the galaxy and bringing them to his planet as his subjects. He met a grisly end at the blade of Terrax, former herald of Galactus.
The Hulk has always had a pretty heavy bench, so to speak, and being ugly and arrogant doesn't get you very far with him.
ReplyDeleteHard to feel sorry for this guy; I would've liked to see Terrax go up against the Hulk. Did that ever happen?
