Can YOU
Name This Marvel Villain??
Biochemist Calvin Zabo looks nothing like himself here--and he has a lame doctor to thank for that. For it was Zabo's hatred of Thor's alter-ego, Don Blake, that made him whip up a potion to change himself into the fierce, super-strong Mister Hyde, so that he could take revenge upon Blake for--not hiring him. Zabo had planned to take a job with Blake in order to later rob him of his money and research secrets. Unfortunately, Zabo's references were less than stellar, and Blake refused. What would you do in this situation? Naturally you'd become a homicidal monster and turn to a life of crime and murder. Wouldn't we all?
Zabo, however, had no way of knowing that taking revenge upon Blake would lead him into battling Thor; and even though Zabo's potion gave him the strength of twelve men, Thor more than proved himself Mister Hyde's match. But that didn't stop this bruiser from going up against other Marvel characters, no matter their rep. His strength and ferocity made him a formidable, and dangerous, threat. A fact he made clear to, among others:
The Black Knight:
Hercules:
Captain America:
And it looks like butlers particularly rubbed him the wrong way:
The guy is called Mister Hyde. You were expecting him to be gentle?
Hyde has also had partnerships with the Masters of Evil, Batroc the Leaper, and most often the Cobra, who's irked him as much as aided him. Hyde's independence and self-interest make him a risk to team up with; plus, he has a hair trigger that can make him turn on you in an instant. Like his namesake, this is one villain you don't want to meet in a dark alley.
Mr. Hyde.
